Everyone likes getting a brand new shiny computer, they never work quite as well as they do right out of the box and you’re giddy to get started downloading your apps.
You can begin to sync your email, bookmarks, and transfer your documents. However, what happens if you run into a road block when you try to download an app and it’s not there?
This is a common problem among people who commonly want to use Kik Messenger on their new Mac or Macbook laptops. You hit a problem that you want to stay connected to your friends, girlfriend, or boyfriend when you go from using your iPhone to your Mac but aren’t sure how to sync your account from the two devices.
That’s where I come in handy, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know about getting this crazy popular app onto your Mac and synced with your iPhone messages. You will have all the functionality as if you were using it on an Android device but you’ll be using it on the comfort of your new Mac.

“Design is the fundamental soul of a man-made creation that ends up expressing itself in successive outer layers of the product or service. The iMac is not just the color or translucence or the shape of the shell. The essence of the iMac is to be the finest possible consumer computer in which each element plays together.” – Steve Jobs
Kik Messenger For Mac Features
Luckily, you will enjoy the exact same features on your Mac as you would on an Android device. You will be able to send messages, group chat, use stickers, picture messages and more. One big upside, though, is that you will now be able to use the app at the full resolution of your new Mac computer. You won’t be limited to the screen size of your smartphone or tablet.
Since there is no native Kik Messenger for Mac, you may notice that there are some bugs in the methods below, but I have tried them and they work very well. If you do run into a problem, just quit out of the app and open it up again. That should take care of any issues.
Kik Messenger For Mac Using Bootcamp
There are a couple options here to get Kik Messenger onto your new Mac computer. These tricks work no matter whether you’re using an iMac, Macbook Pro, Macbook Air, Mac Mini, or a Mac Pro. You can also use these techniques on older versions of the OS X operating system.
The first technique that I recommend using is Bootcamp along with some other apps. You will need a working copy of Windows for this option to work so try to see if you have a copy that you don’t use or that you got with your previous Windows machine. The reason this option works so great is because a lot of the Android emulators are currently only for Windows computers.
Just follow the steps below, which shouldn’t take too long. It may take a bit of time to install Windows initially. Note that Bootcamp comes preinstalled onto every Mac and therefore you can just use that to run Windows. Basically, Bootcamp will partition (split up) your Mac’s hard drive and create a partition for you to install Windows on it.
- Make sure you have a copy of Windows available easily on a thumb drive or a disk.
- Open Bootcamp Assistant on your Mac and from there go through the instructions to install Windows. This will be very straight forward and will walk you through step by step. Just go with the default settings.
- Once you have Windows installed, open up Bootcamp and start to run Windows.
- When Windows is running head over to Andyroid to download the Android emulator.
- Once you have Andyroid on your Windows operating system, you will want to open it up and install the Kik Messenger app onto your Mac.
- Follow the initial setup instructions by entering in your Google Play login information and syncing your accounts.
- Once that is finished, head over to the search icon at the top right and search for Kik Messenger within Andyroid.
- Click the download button next to Kik when it shows up and that will install the app onto Andyroid.
- Sign in to Kik Messenger and you can start using it immediately.
It’s as simple as that to get Kik on your Mac. After going through the initial steps you won’t need to do any of the installation again. Simply open up Bootcamp, then Windows, Then Andyroid, then Kik. It’s a bit of a pain to open up all of these apps but unfortunately it’s the best way as of now to get apps to run on your Mac.
TIP: Keep in mind that running all of these apps can use up an extensive amount of your Mac’s resources. It is good to close apps you’re not using so that you can free up some extra resources and memory for Kik to run smoothly.
That wraps up our guide on how to download Kik Messenger for your Mac or Macbook. Let us know if you ran into any problems below in the comments. Also, if you have any other secrets or tips, leave them below for our readers. If you enjoyed this article, please share it!
You should be making a KIK for MAC – PERIOD.
I completely agree! Hopefully Kik is getting that hint by now.
Yeah, and if web platform apps such as TextNow can work off the website without even having to dowload it, then it should be the same with all the others…..”SMS via Internet”
I use an android phone and the KIK froze it up a bit, so I uninstalled it with no plan to return.
I am now using WhatsApp which is kind of a no-good app because it requires that everyone you want to use it with has your freakn’ phone number! WhatsApp is a total “breach” on the privacy of your cell phone number since it will only work with your cell phone number in the app of the cell that’s being used. I’m about to delete WhatsApp, too.
Yeah, there is no reason why a company like Kik should not have there services for both computer and phones.
Nice i completely love it on my Macbook air
