Why Get Kik For Windows?

This may seem like a silly question depending on how much you’ve used Kik and how comfortable you are with your Windows computer. There are a bunch of reasons why using Windows is easier and more convenient than using your iPhone or Android.

Of course, when you’re out and about, heading to a meeting or a class or riding the subway it’s more convenient to use a mobile device. but what happens when you’re sitting in class or at work and you’re not supposed to be on your phone. Or when you’re at a cafe and want to use a computer instead of constantly switching between your phone and Windows computer.

On top of that, you can make use of the larger screen if you get any pictures or videos when you’re chatting with a friend. That way you’re not limited to a smaller screen and can enjoy the full resolution of the photo.

Download Kik Messenger For Windows

Unfortunately, the developers of Kik Messenger decided not to create a computer version and they have only stuck with mobile operating systems. Therefore, we’re forced to figure out some other way to get the app on a computer. Luckily, we can use an Android emulator to run the app on Windows and send/receive messages all we want.

You will notice that all of the features are accessible on the Windows version as is on the iPhone or Android version. You will be able to send and receive messages, view your contact list, use notifications, etc.

The only thing that may not work completely well is if you want to take a selfie using your computer’s camera that may or may not work depending on your computer. Sometimes it has worked and other times it doesn’t. Make sure your graphics card is updated if it doesn’t work and if need be you can take a selfie on your phone and send a message to yourself of a picture and then use that.

TIP: Make sure you have a Google Play account so that you can login and sync your account with your emulator and from there run Kik.

Now, let’s get into the guide and walk you step by step through instructions on downloading Kik on your Windows machine.

  1. First, head over to Andyroid and download their emulator onto your computer. It’s completely free so you won’t have to worry about entering in a credit card or registering for anything.
  2. After you have Andyroid installed, from there you can double click the installation file and go through the whole setup process.
  3. Make sure you login to your Google account when it prompts you. That way you can just sync your Google Play account with your emulator and make the whole process work better.
  4. After you get it all setup, double click on the Google Play icon at the bottom and search for Kik Messenger. Then just click the installation button to install the app.
  5. From there, Kik Messenger will be installed onto your emulator desktop and from there you can double click the app to open it.
  6. Now, you’ll login to Kik and keep in mind this will log you out of any other device. There isn’t any way to be logged in to the same account on multiple devices at the same time.

If you have any trouble using Andyroid, another option is to download another Android Emulator called BlueStacks. I found that BlueStacks tends to have a few more bugs and sometimes gives people graphics card errors. However, it’s another option that could be doable if you have trouble getting Andyroid to work. They both basically have the same functionality and they both have similar setup processes.
